Dear Inside:Insight community, welcome to our first edition!
We’re thrilled to launch our inaugural news update, capturing the excitement from our project’s kick-off. As a MSCA Doctoral Network pioneering AI-driven simulations for healthcare education, we’re already transforming how we train the next generation of medical innovators. Take a minute to delve into our latest highlights below!

Research in Motion
Our PhD fellows have hit the ground running, eager to get their projects going and creating synergies.
- Thomas Canino (DC7) is crafting a cutting-edge manuscript on interactive dashboards for healthcare simulation. This innovation promises to revolutionize data visualization in our workflows—stay tuned for publication soon!
- Secondment Success: DC3 Flynn, DC6 Ana, DC7 Thomas, and DC9 Antonella have nailed (or are planning) their first secondments, gaining hands-on expertise across consortium partners, and sharing “Tips and Tricks” for optimizing secondments in terms of travel -admin-research balance and sharing their experiences.
- PhD of the Month: Antonella Giangualano Shines!
Antonella Giangualano (DC9) wowed the 2026 Dutch Society for Simulation in Healthcare (DSSH) Conference, snagging the DSSH International Research Grant! Her pioneering AI-simulation work for healthcare is a testament to Inside:Insight’s early impact.
“Thrilled to push boundaries with Inside:Insight!” says Antonella.

Project Updates & Outreach
- Kickoff Momentum: in our first 13 months of the project we hosted two kick-off meetings 2025 and a first workshop in January 2026. Catch all the details here.
- Social Buzz: Follow us on social media -> LinkedIn for our goals, vision, and behind-the-scenes glimpses!
- Network Expansion: Partners are identifying potentially new collaborations, including DUTCH (technology), Edu4Health (edu4health.eu), and Tools4Teams (another MSCA DN: tools4teams.org). Two roundtable meetings will be organised with industry and healthcare representative, to provide PhD fellows with the opportunity to increase their knowledge about end-user requirements and the ability to make the relevance of their work understandable.
- Upcoming Events:
- Next consortium gathering will be in Braga, Portugal end of year —stay tuned for PhD progress shares, results, and challenge discussions.
- Frank Halfwerk (UTwente) is heading to the ENLIGHT Teaching & Learning Conference 2026 at University of Bern (October 2026), including the Critical Friends Workshop, for prototype feedback on our anatomical exploration environment.
